In Kasangombe, it has been a struggle for parents to keep their children in school. I could be teaching a child one day, and the next she would not be in class. How could these young ones survive without education?
Many families cannot pay to send their children to school, and instead use them to help work the fields or in the markets, hoping to make more money. We have been trying to teach the parents that one year of education can dramatically increase a person’s earnings.
World Vision has allowed children who have never received formal education the opportunity to learn life-saving knowledge. In Kasangombe our children are learning to read and write—skills vital to lift themselves out of poverty.
With proper education on the HIV and AIDS pandemic, these children can protect their generation and the future generations from falling victim to this deadly disease. Our educational work here in Uganda is specifically focused on helping orphans, impoverished children, and former child soldiers receive the tools they need to change their lives.
Education is life. Education is hope for the future. Will you help send a child to school?
